Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the daily challenge, typo scoring, spelling clues, and the TypoFind leaderboard.
What is TypoFind?
TypoFind is a free daily spelling quiz game. Each challenge asks you to choose the correctly spelled word from four options, using a short clue instead of showing the answer.
How do you play TypoFind?
Tap Start, read the clue, and choose the correct spelling before the 10-second timer runs out. A full daily challenge has 20 questions.
Is TypoFind free?
Yes. TypoFind runs in the browser and does not require a download, account, or payment to play the daily challenge.
How is my score calculated?
The final score is out of 10. Each of the 20 questions is worth up to 0.5 points. Correct answers earn points, and faster correct answers receive a small time bonus.
Why does TypoFind use clues instead of sentences with the word?
The clue explains the meaning without revealing the spelling. That keeps the question fair while avoiding ambiguity between similar-looking answer choices.
What is the difference between a typo and a misspelled word?
A typo is often an accidental typing slip, while a misspelled word is a spelling mistake people commonly repeat. TypoFind focuses on common misspellings, but the game name keeps the quick proofreading spirit.
When does the daily challenge reset?
The daily leaderboard and challenge reset at 1:00 AM Eastern Time. Everyone plays the same daily set during that window.
How does the leaderboard work?
Only completed games can be signed and recorded. The leaderboard ranks by verified score first, then by completion time.
How do I get on the leaderboard?
Finish all 20 questions in the daily challenge, enter your name or nickname, and tap Sign score. TypoFind records the score only after the game is complete.
Can people fake leaderboard scores?
TypoFind recalculates scores on the server from the submitted answer sheet, so the browser cannot simply send a fake high score.
Does TypoFind work on mobile?
Yes. TypoFind is designed as a responsive web game and can be played on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop browsers.
Where do the words come from?
The word bank is curated around widely recognized English spelling traps: silent letters, doubled consonants, vowel swaps, and endings such as -ance, -ence, -able, and -ible.
Why are some wrong answers so close to the real word?
That is intentional. The best spelling practice comes from spotting the small difference between the correct word and the mistake people are most likely to type.
